Ethan Slater wife Lilly Jay says he ditched family for Ariana Grande

The wife of Ethan Slater, Ariana Grande's "Wicked" co-star and reported new beau, feels he has abandoned her and their new son for the singer, according to a new report.

Sources close to the "Thank U, Next" singer, 30, and Slater, 31, insist their love story didn't start until they'd closed the books on their respective marriages. But the Broadway star's wife, Lilly Jay, feels he has all but ditched the family, insiders tell TMZ.

"It's understandable that emotions are high and it's hard seeing your ex move on, especially in such a public way, and her friends are trying to protect her," they told the outlet. "But Ari and Ethan are just trying to lay low and be respectful of their exes as they pursue this new relationship."

Jay is also reportedly trying to move past the fact that the former couple, who tied the knot in 2018, will not be raising their 11-month-old together.

The insiders say Grande spent time with Slater and Jay before they went their separate ways.

Though Slater's Instagram account is private — a change reportedly put into effect as news of his relationship with the Grammy winner surfaced — Grande liked Slater's Mother's Day tribute to Jay, according to a screenshot.

“Happy first Mother's Day to the most loving caring and wonderful mom/person in the world. - from me and this little guy," read the post, which does not make mention of Jay being Slater's significant other.

While the split's been anything but amicable, neither Slater nor Jay have filed for divorce at this time.

News broke last week that Grande and husband Dalton Gomez, who she started dating and got engaged to in 2020, have separated and are "heading for divorce." The former couple married in May 2021.
